Key Stage 2
The 2026 Key Stage 2 SATs results for Excelsior Primary Academy show a broadly positive picture. The combined measure rose from 34.5% in 2024 to 50.0% in 2025 and remained at 50.0% in 2026, a substantial improvement from 33% in 2023.
Reading improved to 80.8%, above both the Trust average of 74.5% and the national average of 75.0%. Writing also increased to 65.4%, following curriculum changes, additional teacher training and work with Young Writers North East. Maths fell slightly to 61.5%, reflecting cohort factors, stamina issues and gaps in prior learning; targeted support will strengthen progress.

The is no Progress 8 data available for the 2025 and 2026 results. This is because there is no KS2 assessment data available to calculate the baseline for Progress 8 for these years due to Covid-19 disruption.

Key Stage 5
In 2022/23, qualifications returned to pre-pandemic standards. KS5 performance measures were not published for 2019/20 and 2020/21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and value-added performance measures were not published for 2022/23 as the underlying KS4 results were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
