Our Behaviour Curriculum
At Excelsior Academy, our commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment is evident in everything we do each day. We model, teach and practise the behaviours we want our pupils to learn from Nursery onwards, so that they are ready for life in modern Britain.
Our behaviour approaches in each phase centres around three core principles:
"Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe."
In our Primary phase, we use our Good to Be Green system to encourage pupils to be safe, kind, respectful, and try their best. Good to Be Green has a strong focus on recognition for pupils who behave appropriately, while keeping track of pupils who find it harder to meet the school’s expectations and need some additional support. You can find more details in the Primary section.
In our Secondary phase we have the ‘3 Bs’ of expected behaviour.
- Be Ready: In school, on time, ready to learn and participate in school life.
- Be Respectful: Treat everyone in our community, staff and pupils, with kindness and consideration, appreciating the unique backgrounds and perspectives that each individual brings to our community.
- Be Safe: Make choices that prioritise our own well-being and that of others so that everyone feels emotionally secure.
These are our clear expectations that all students are expected to adhere to during their time at Excelsior Academy. We teach pupils what each of our expectations mean. We use the Class Charts behaviour system to celebrate the positive choices our pupils make and to monitor occasions when our expectations are not met.
