Transition
We are delighted to welcome you and your child to Excelsior Academy!
Introduction
In Year 7 we support all pupils to ensure a successful transition to secondary.
Excelsior Academy offers a welcoming and safe environment for all students where they are given exceptional opportunities to learn and grow as individuals. We know that it can be an exciting time for children as they move from the primary phase of their education to secondary as well as being an anxious time for some.
Our Year Teams will help you with all aspects of this journey. We have a wonderfully broad curriculum and you will have access to our fantastic science labs, outstanding sports facilities, as well as industry-standard food rooms, fully resourced music rooms, and drama areas.
To support your child during this key transition point, we introduce them to secondary school life in a measured and supportive way. Before joining Year 7, your child will be able to take a tour of Excelsior, meet their teachers and ask any questions they may have.
Transition Days
As part of the Year 6 to Year 7 transition process, we hold dedicated transition days to give pupils the opportunity to experience life at Excelsior Academy before starting in September. These days allow students to familiarise themselves with the school building, meet key staff, take part in lessons and spend time with their new classmates.
For September 2026 starters, our transition days will be announced soon.
Student Story
We’re excited to share a series of student videos to give prospective pupils and their families a real insight into life at our academies. These videos feature current students talking about their first impressions, how they settled in and the opportunities they’ve enjoyed since joining.
Through these stories, parents and students can see the supportive learning environment, the variety of enrichment opportunities and the welcoming community that makes each academy unique. The videos offer an authentic perspective, helping future pupils feel confident and excited about their own journey with us.
