We are thrilled that you are considering Excelsior Academy for your child. We are very proud of our high parent satisfaction rates and are committed to working hard to maintain them.

Choosing a school is exciting but it can seem a little daunting too. We hope that you find everything that you need in the information on this site. If not, please get in touch so that we can help to answer your questions.

All schools publish the guidelines that they follow when offering places to children. Our Admissions Policy explains how decisions about admissions will be made fairly.

How to apply

The application process depends on how old your child will be on the birthday that falls within the school year. The school year, or academic year, runs from 1st September to 31st August.

Primary. Following the approval of both an admissions variation request and a significant change application for a phased Change of Age range at Excelsior Academy, there will be no admissions to Reception to Year 4 cohorts from September 2026.

Secondary. Children in our Year 6 automatically move into our Year 7. Pupils from other schools can also apply to join Excelsior. If you are applying for your child to join Excelsior for their secondary (11-16) education, applications are made online here. Alternatively, please contact us directly and we will be able to help you further.

You can apply for a place for your child at Excelsior Academy at any time outside the normal admissions round.  Applications are made online here.  Alternatively, please contact us directly and we will be able to help you further.  Spaces will be allocated, where possible, in line with the General Arrangements for Admissions to Excelsior Academy as set out in the Admissions policy below.

Sixth Form. If you are completing Year 11 and applying to study post-16 at Excelsior College, you can apply directly to the College here.
