Excelsior Academy - Nov 7
We would like to congratulate our Young Interpreters for completing their training.
The Young Interpreters award is recognised nationally as a buddy scheme to help new students who speak English as an additional language whilst empowering the Young Interpreter to be a great communicator and leader.
We have successfully trained 30 students to become Young Interpreters for our Academy. They have worked really hard during these sessions and provided some great ideas on how we can help our multilingual students make the best start at Excelsior Academy.
Mrs Neale was extremely impressed with them demonstrating the Laidlaw value of being being GOOD (to others and the world around us) and encouraging in others the Laidlaw value of being Determined (to overcome obstacles with an unwavering sense of purpose)

Excelsior Academy - Nov 7
On Wednesday we held a bake-off and auctioned the fantastic creations made by staff. Each department bid on a cake to take to their staff meeting and over £500 was raised for three incredibly good causes. The Tiny Lives Trust, Ward 36 at the Freeman Hospital (skin cancer ward), and Children's Cancer North
