Excelsior Academy welcomed representatives from a range of local employers to host a mock interview session with our Sixth Form students in the sports hall.

Organisations taking part included Centre For Life, Clifford Chance, DWP, Keepmoat Homes, Northumbria Police, Northumbria University, Robson Laidler and First Call.

Students took it in turns to sit opposite the employers, answering questions designed to explore their strengths, experiences working in teams and future career goals. Each student was assessed on body language, politeness and interpersonal skills, providing constructive feedback to help them improve.

The session gave students a realistic insight into professional recruitment processes and helped them build confidence in presenting themselves formally. As with similar events, the experience equipped students with practical skills such as professionalism, resilience and clear communication, all of which are essential for future interviews, University applications and careers.

“Mock interviews give our students professional guidance and personalised feedback that helps build confidence, skills and aspiration. We are very grateful to the volunteers who supported our Y12 and Y13 students, many were so impressed they said they would happily employ them.”

- Kerry Swindon, Careers Lead at Excelsior Academy

The school thanks all participating employers for generously sharing their time and expertise, inspiring students and helping them understand what employers look for in future candidates
