Excelsior Academy Celebrates World Book Day
Back
Excelsior Academy enjoyed a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day with a range of reading-focused activities across the school.
Our Year 7 Reading Champions visited Excelsior Primary, sharing stories with Year 1 and Year 4 pupils. The visit gave our Champions the opportunity to model their oracy skills and build confidence. One Year 7 student admitted he was nervous at first, but quickly found his confidence once he began reading aloud.
Back at Excelsior Academy, the Reading Champions shared their experiences with their peers during assembly, demonstrating the impact of reading and public speaking. They were formally recognised for their efforts with certificates and badges presented by Mr Foster.
The celebrations also included a “Speak Like an Expert” activity for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10, taking place across all subjects in every lesson that day. This was in addition to a World Book Day quiz, where pupils discovered fun facts about the day and explored its importance for reading and learning.
World Book Day at Excelsior Academy highlighted both the joy of reading and the confidence it can inspire in young learners.
